APEC Innovation City Forum is in webinar form on July 18- 21, 2020 in Nanjing, China. The Forum is consisted of group workshops. Mayors, municipal officers and representatives of science and technology authorities of innovation cities in Asia-Pacific region, as well as members of relevant think tanks and experts in innovation city field will be invited to the event to have the discussion.

• What is Innovation City?

“Innovation city” is a concept about studying and improving innovation ecosystem of a city to promote development of innovation chain, thus further satisfy needs of innovation and technology industrialization. It could become strong driving force to quality growth of APEC under the tendency of city development, and benefit well-being of humanity.

• About “Promoting Innovation City Development in APEC Region and Cooperation to Contribute to Regional Integration 4.0 and Sustainable Growth” (PPSTI 02 2019A) APEC-Funding Project

It addresses 2019 APEC’s priority of “move towards integration 4.0 - having uniform procedures and regulations to ease trade”, and has been officially endorsed as an APEC-funding project for 2019. The Project plans to organize a webinar event in 2020 that aims to conclude mutual understandings and common sense about innovation city concept, and then organize the second event in Apr. 2021 to release and discuss about the Study Report, the major outcome document of the Project, with invited delegates and experts from APEC member economies.

1. Approximately 70 pages edited by the Project

2. Policy recommendation for APEC innovation city development

3. A draft indicator system assessing innovation cities in APEC region

4. Case collection will include 7 classic types of innovation city cases:

• including innovation city cluster

• regional central innovation city,

• featured industry innovation city/ town

• featured hi-tech industry zones

• infrastructure innovation cooperation

• digital economy innovation cooperation

• green development innovation cooperation.
